Food For The Soul:
The story behind The "Save The Dream Initiative":
3 years ago I went through a major surgery that was put off for 18 years. I spent my time & days investing in others...i.e.plays, youth, teaching, mentoring, family, church, projects, etc. I was on FMLA for almost all of 2009...
Then in February of 2010 I was laid off from JP Morgan Chase after several years of service. Our jobs were shipped off shore & to the state of DE.
By July of 2010, I was still unemployed, struggling to make ends meet, on the verge of losing my marriage and dealing with healing issues from my surgery.
During this time, I was unable to pay my mortgage and entered delinquent status. After 2 years of fighting the bank, proving that a modified loan was justified, I lost the court case.
For more than a year and a half I have been a single father, going through a divorce which is final, only finding part time work, collecting unemployment benefits and maintaining a certain level of integrity with my work in the community. I have NEVER stopped working, trying and striving to provide a good home for my 2 sons.
The bank finally decided to offer me a 3 month trial payment period which sums up to $4164.00, with the first payment is due January 15, 2012.
LOL They didn't give me this offer until the last week of December. Really?!?!?! Ok, so thus my faith was activated full force. What was I going to do? Lay down and die? Lay down and cry? Or perhaps, just cry out and ask God why? "Faith without works is dead" James 2:17. So used the tools I was equipped with to come up with a plan. I can cook my a** off.
Hence, the "Save The Dream Initiative" Although I have reached my first goal with your help, there is more to go. If you are so led, please visit the following site and make a donation. With every donation made, I will personally file it away as someone that I must invest in, whichever way I can. Thank you for reading this and caring enough to send up a prayer on my behalf.
